Watters Smith Memorial State Park

A 532 acre historical park which stands as a memorial to the pioneer spirit of Watters Smith who settled here in 1796. It features a historical restoration and interpretive area and recreation activities such as hiking trails, swimming pool, and riding stables. |
Simpson Creek Covered Bridge

| The Simpson Creek Covered Bridge was built in 188l. It was washed out in 1889 and relocated to its present location. It can be found on County Road 24/2 at the Junction of County Road 24, just past the entrance to the Meadowbrook Mall entrance. It is open to foot travel. |
Bowstring Bridge

| The Bowstring Bridge was built in 1924 to provide access between the Bridgeport Lamp Chimney Company's glass plant and warehouse. The factory was sold in 1940 to the Master Glass Company which manufactured glass marbles. The factory closed in 1973 and was acquired by the City of Bridgeport. The bridge is the only evidence left of these two companies at this location. The Bridge was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. Renovation, which began in 1996, was completed in 1998. The bridge is useful once again as a walkway connecting two recreational areas. |

| The early records of the Church states that the Church was founded and constituted by five members and was ministered to be itinerant pastors during the period between 1770 and 1780. It was recognized as the oldest existing Baptist Church in West Virginia. It is generally accepted that this church is the oldest existing Protestant church west of the Allegheny Mountains. |
